TIM MINUE

For more than 40 years, Tim has been involved in Fire and Emergency Management with more than 34 years with the Calgary Fire Department (CFD).  During his time CFD, Tim was responsible for design and implementation of upgrading software to allow fire and water services to collectively track fire hydrant testing, repair, and new installations.  For more than 15 years, Tim was part of CFD’s recruiting division, conducting pre-employment interviews with hundreds of applicants, many of whom are part of the department today.

Prior to retiring, Tim held the rank of District Chief with CFD; assuming the role of Incident Commander at numerous major incidents.  He was part of the Command of Evacuation Group during early stages of 2013 flood.  This position allowed regular tabletop reviews of ICS for individual crews.  During his time with the CFD, Tim was also deployed to the Slave Lake Wildfire, Fort MacMurray Wildfire and the High River Flood.

After retiring from CFD, Tim spent 2018 – 2021 as Fire Chief of Tsuut’ina First Nation Fire and Rescue, managing all operational duties to lead a full-time Indigenous Fire Department.  From 2019- 2021, he also served as Director of Emergency Management for the Tsuut’ina Nation.  This included the position of Incident Command tasked with creating an ‘On-Nation’ Emergency Management Group to provide Chief, Council and Nation citizens with information and recommendations to safely navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
